Trekking in Nepal in the winter season is safe and enjoyable. Morning and nights are cold but the daytime is warm and pleasant with sunshine. A trek in the lower mountain region of Nepal will be enjoyable in winter.
However, if you fancy trekking at a higher altitude then you have to gear up to face harsh weather. High passes might be covered in heavy snow so it is advisable not to cross high passes during winter, especially after a heavy snowfall.
A skillful and experienced guide adds value to your Himalayan adventure. Despite the increase in solo or independent trekkers we urge you to trek with an experienced guide from a reliable company.
Winter trekking in Nepal with a guide is essential. Busy trekking trails of Nepal are less frequented in winter. God forbid, if anything happens, days might pass without you receiving any help. Mitigate unnecessary risk by taking a guide and enrich your Himalayan trek. A skilled guide with the knowledge of the wilderness and first aid training will be advantageous on a trek.
